Windows 11 23H2
eMClient Ver (Free) 10.1.4588
Gmail issuing contact list errors. I recently added or adjusted a name on the eMClient end but that now escapes me as to which one. The error reads…
[Google Contacts] Uploading item(s) to folder ‘RBG Main Acct/Other Contacts’ failed due to the following error: Parameter validation failed for “resourceName” : The value did not match the regular expression ^people/[^/]+$
Can someone describe the fix? It is not impacting operation but it is annoying.
FWIW, I have been experiencing other issues with Gmail on other accounts of late including delayed download of message bodies but I do not know if this is in the eMClient or on the Gmail side.
Hey @Roslindale the main issue is with one of your google contacts being corrupted
try the following
- Identify the Problematic Contact
- Log in to Gmail via your web browser.
- Open Google Contacts.
- Navigate to the Other Contacts section.
- Look for recently added/edited contacts that might have invalid or incomplete information (e.g., blank names, improperly formatted data).
- If you suspect a problematic contact, edit or delete it directly in Google Contacts.
2. Force a Re-Sync in eM Client
- Open eM Client.
- Go to Menu > Accounts > [Your Gmail Account] > Contacts.
- Uncheck the Enable Service box for contacts temporarily and save.
- Re-enable the service after a few moments to force a fresh sync.
3. Rebuild Contact Cache
- Go to Menu > Tools > Operations > Log in eM Client.
- Check the sync logs to see if any specific contacts are failing.
- If logs are unclear, delete the local contact database:
- Navigate to eM Client’s local data directory (e.g.,
C:\Users\[YourUser]\AppData\Roaming\eM Client\
).
- Find and delete the relevant
Contacts
database folder (back it up first).
- Restart eM Client to rebuild the database from Google’s servers
