Gmail - eM Client: No download

Installed eM Client; walked through initial setup of 1 Gmail account, configured as IMAP.
eM Client says all is good.
Gmail says eM Client is authorized.
No emails are downloaded.
No error messages - just an Exclamation Mark in a red triangle.

Changed location of eM Client database, closed & reopened eM, which prompted to set up a new acct - ran through same steps (accepting all “Recommended” settings); got prompt to allow eM to access Gmail, but this time with notice the eM already has some access; reconfirmed.
Still fails.

Suspect this has something to do with Gmails announced “Changes” effective Jan 1, 2025: part of reason for looking at eM Client is because T’Bird has also lost its connection.
Accordingly, suspect that their is nothing to be done, so this is basically just a “rant.”

PS: did find a recent post from someone else having trouble, but found not obvious solution there.
