If I have a folder in which the current message is the latest message and is listed at the bottom, when new messages arrive they are appended to the bottom but are not visible because there is no automatic scrolling. This has caused me to miss important new messages.
How can I configure things so that new messages are always visible?
You can go in “Menu / Settings (Preferences) / Mail / Read” and at the bottom set the default sort order “Newest messages on top” in the dropdown as per the below example screenshot.
That should then show you the latest messages at the top when they are received.
You can also click on the word “received” above the message list and then sort in whatever message order you like as well.
