My company flagged my account due to activity quickly switching IP addresses and showing that EmClient accessed mail from Germany, then a few seconds later, switched back to US. Is this normal? EmClient is one of only a few email clients that gets through their security, but I fear that if this keeps happening, they will block it.

eM Client only accesses the mail servers of whatever accounts you have setup.
So if your mail accounts are in different countries then that would be why that’s happening.
Apart from that your computer Wan (ISP) IP address can change as well if you are on a eg: Dynamic auto assigned (non Static) address.
Apart from that if you are running a eg: VPN the VPN might be switching to different IP addresses if it’s not fixed to one Country.
So suggest to let your company IT support know “what mail accounts you are accessing”, so they know what Mail server IP addresses to allow in their system so you can continue to use eM Client.
Apart from that your company IT support can see what else is causing it outside of the mail client.
The log shows that our mail server was accessed from Germany. As if I was there. A VPN would make sense, but I wasn’t using one at the time. I was just curious if data was routed through somewhere that could have caused this. Or something similar. They were able to identify that it was an android device and I was accessing my email at that time. Just an odd occurance.
If you are using eM Client on your phone with push notifications, another server needs to access you mailbox in order for new message notifications to arrive on your device.
Please read our blog page for more on how push notifications work in the mobile app.
Couldn’t it be that emClient is checking for updates? Wouldn’t that cause traffic to Germany?
Based on this and the link, it seems like the Em Client server is the only one connecting to my mail server. It states that info is then sent from that server to the firebase server. Is it possible for any of that traffic to show up as Germany?
If thats the case, would turning off the notifications help? (Not that I want to)
I’ve been using EmClient for the past 6 months and this is the first time anyone has said anything.
