[fixed?] Upgrade to v10, no more emclient - app wouldn't start

I just upgraded to v10 this morning. Evidently it did not go well. emClient refuses to start. No errors, no nothing, just does nothing.

Removed shortcuts on task bar, not using start menu, going directly to installed program location. Trying to run the application itself. Nothing.

Go to command prompt and run MailClient.exe and it immediately returns, doing nothing.

Go to task manager and there was eM Client with an item saying “Starting” and nothing happening. I killed that task, verified it died (had to do it twice).

After that, running double clicking on MailClient.exe in the file explorer and I got the startup window where it’s checking the database.

Don’t know what is going on, but there is clearly something off with the start up doing stuff without giving any indication that something is running and/or doing something - if it was. It could have just been hung.

Anyway, this is at least the second upgrade that has gone bad. You’d think I’d learn my lesson and backup first. Hopefully I don’t lose everything and have to download the mailboxes again.

The corrupt database check finished, and emc10 started. It appears to be working.

So finding the hung (?) process in task manager and killing it seems to have allowed the app to start, albeit with a corrupt db check.

Minor hiccups with google backed calendars, and work email, but they are syncing now.

Only issue now is the font change. The new font selection, especially in bold, is not as legible as before. I’ll have to go poke the settings and figure out a better font. Not sure why that would change.

Hopefully this will be a good upgrade.
