Hello,
After adding a new email account I note that the filing tree of that account is incomplete. Some sub-folders are missing - in particular, sub-folders of sub-folders. Is there a limit on how “deep” a filing tree can be accommodated. If not, how can I ensure that all folders are shown?
Thanks.
Have you looked inside the More folder?
Yes. There are many folders there, but I’m looking for sub-folders of those folders - which aren’t there.
After adding a new email account I note that the filing tree of that account is incomplete.

I’m not aware of any sub folder limitation in eM Client.
If not all your mail account sub folders are showing under +More as @Gary advised after just adding your accounts, then that can be just that eM Client is still updating all the folders after adding the new account and it will appear later. I’ve seen that happen with adding accounts with very large cloud mailboxes. The sub folders can also appear randomly till all fully completed
So click the dropdown on the right of Refresh top left and click “Show Operations”. You can then see whats updating. Wait till that’s 100% complete & then check your sub folders. Even close and reopen eM Client and then go back to Show Operations and see if it updates again.
Now if there is nothing showing in Show Operations after along time and closing and reopening eM Client makes no difference, then could be you might eg: have an older or outdated eM Client version and it might need updating. You can see and download all the various versions via the release history page.
If you do update close eM Client before updating.
Thanks very much for your response.
Show Operations indicates that “There are no operations in progress”. I am using the most up to date version of eM Client - 10.0.3530 (f0b89b7). There are still folders missing.
Is there anything else that I can do to try to resolve this?
Thanks for your assistance.

Could be your mail account is set to “only Sync a limited time” which us usually by default.
Go to “Menu accounts” and you will find if it’s an eg: IMAP or Exchange account tabs options to change to Sync All Time. See the eM Client blog below. That could explain why some sub mail folders are missing.
Apart from that might be something specific with your particular mail account in which case “update who your mailbox provider is” and “what type of mail account you have”, IMAP, Exchange, Office 365 or iCloud account, incase you need to do anything specific for that mail providor.
The account is set to sync “All time”.
By way of example, in my folder “2024” there is a sub-folder “Events”. In the Events folder there are 8 sub-folders. These 8 folders are not appearing in eM Client. If I create a sub-folder within the Events folder on eM Client this shows up in my Outlook filing tree. If I create a sub folder in the same space (2024/Events/…) in Outlook, the new folder does not show up in eM Client.
I’m thinking that this information may help someone brighter than me to understand where the problem may lie??
Thanks for your help.
Martin.
Who hosts the email account?
Do you see these missing folders in webmail?
Amazon Web Services. I can’t currently access through webmail so unable to answer that question at the moment.
Well, you need to see if the folders are there on the server, which you will see in webmail. eM Client only syncs with the server, and if they aren’t on the server, they can’t sync to eM Client.
If they are in webmail, and you have a paid eM Client license, you can open a support ticket and we can look at some logs to see if there is an issue syncing with the server.
