It does not work to have a Favorite as startup folder.
If I exit emClient with Favorite → Inbox selected emClient starts with Local folder → inbox as selected startup folder, not Favorite → inbox.

I assume your post is a statement of fact as information for others.
The reason for your result when making your selection is that in fact you are selecting a “shortcut” in Favourites to the root folder which is then displayed.
