Is this an imported signature?
The signature is text, not imported.
Ok check in eM Client settings via “Menu / Settings / Mail / Compose” (PC) or “eM Client / Preferences / Mail / Compose” (Mac) if new or reply emails are set to text or HTML ?
Thanks. Compose mail was set the HTML. The problem was the setting “mail format for reply,” was set to its default: “autodetect.” Changing that to HTML solved the problem. I’d consider that a bug in the program - hard to see how its a feature.
Autodetect means that your reply will be in the same format as the message you are replying. That is intentional, so not a bug.
If you are replying to a plain text message, your reply will also be in plain text. So this then depends on the code in the HTML of your signature. When it is converted to plain text, there might be extra lines because of the way it is coded in HTML.
If you want to set it back to autodetect, you will need to edit the HTML signature and remove the extra lines from the code.
If you want me to look at your signatures for you, you can export them using Menu > File > Export > Settings, then select just the option that includes Signatures. Send the xml file this creates to [email protected]
Thank you, Gary. I sent a copy of my signatures to you. I do wonder why the extra lines spaces are put in signatures with compose replies set to “autodetect.”.
