Error message 5.7.1 Reject for policy reason

I can send new e-mails but cannot reply to a chain. I get the error message
[SMTP] Cannot send message (Sending message “e-mail title” failed with error: Email body not accepted due to the following reason:

"5.7.1 Reject for policy reason

")
Any suggestions?

P.S. Please keep it simple, I am not very tech savvy.

That error message “body not accepted policy rejected sending error” sounds like there is something in in the email that is deemed as possibly spam or violates the server sending policy.

So you will need to contact your SMTP mail server technical support and tell them you are getting
5.7.1 Reject for policy reason when sending those specific emails. They will then advise on that.

I have tried that. It works fine when I go to my e-mail server direct, this only happens with eMClient and it happens whoever I try to reply to and whatever the e-mail is, surely they can’t all be deemed to be spam.

Sending via webmail “isn’t the same as sending directly via mail clients” using SMTP Server address’s and different ports etc.

Yes it might not all be for spam reasons, but thats one of the most common reasons for that rejected for policy reasons error.

Sometimes it can also be due to eg: suspicious email content in the “header, subject or body”. So the email might look all ok, but is rejected for policy reasons.

Sometimes it can be due to eg: the email or certain content in the email is “linked to an IP address on a blacklist” so gets rejected sending for policy reasons.

Sometimes it can be due to the email address like domain email address’s that are not authenticated like (SPF, DKIM, or DMARC records), so the email can then be rejected sending for policy reasons.

So can be many reasons, but “your SMTP sending mail server Technical support staff” will be able to help you with that. You might need to send one of those example emails to them (via your webmail) to be investigated.

Note:- If they need you to send them an example, suggest to export one to an .eml file so they can then view the source code. You can export a message to .eml via “Menu / File / Export”.

Thank you for your input although I didn’t understand most of it. All I know is eMClient worked fine for years and now it doesn’t. My e-mail technical support staff say it is nothing to do with them, everything is fine at their end. I suppose I will just have to live with it. It might cure itself eventually.
Thanks again

My e-mail technical support staff say it is nothing to do with them, everything is fine at their end.

Yes it’s not a fault of your physical SMTP mail server but “a problem with those specific emails in someway” whether due to as I explained eg: Content in the email header, subject or body, or an IP address blacklist problem, or Authentication of the email address domain records problem etc… , which is causing rejected for policy reasons.

So that’s why I advised to contact your sending mail server technical support staff and let them know “you are getting that 5.7.1 rejected for policy reason” when replying to those specific chain emails via a mail client. Also if you haven’t already, send them one of those chain emails as a .eml attachment example “via your webmail GUI” to be checked out.

If you go to Google search and type - 5.7.1 Reject for policy reason , you will see Information on it.
