In some cases, your .NET Framework installation can become damaged and require repairs.
This might be the case if your app crashes right after you try to start it or if you can
not install a particular .NET Framework version or update.
Go to Control Panel ->Programs and Features ->Turn Windows features on or off
->Disable ALL .NET Framework entries ->Click OK ->Reboot computer if it does happen
→ Repeat above but this time ENABLE ->Click OK ->Allow to enable check & any update ->Rebbot
->Keep your fingers crossed that issue fixed
As the .NET process did not help check you system as follows.

It didn’t help. Tested different versions, old and new, without changes. Reinstalled Windows. It doesn’t help.Copied from another system hostfxr.dll - it works
I have re-read all the posts in this thread - assuming all the suggested actions
have been carried out as suggested and you still have the issue I conclude that:
1./ There is something other than eMC causing the issue
2./ Perhaps there is a firmware issue
3./ Have you checked your BIOS is current?
4./ Before you reinstalled Win10 did you format your SSD?
5./ What other apps do you have installed after re-install of Win10
6./ As @Gary states there is no logical reason to copy and overwrite hostfxr.dll
7./ Has eMC ever worked correctly, when, how long and what version/s?
Most likely
Bios latest
Windows 8.1 stood. There were no problems with the program
Most programs are portable
I will reinstall Windows 10 or I will install outlook
I am sorry I can not help further as the replies you give do answer and ignore
questions asked.
Without the information requested it is not possible to make valid or meaningful suggestions.
Perhaps others on this Forum, which is help from users NOT eMC, can guess at solving your
issue or maybe you should raise a support ticket direct with eMC, however, bear in mind
that personally I do NOT believe the issue is with eMC.
So if you need and want Pro support you will need to buy a License.
I have previously explained my position and why.
There is an English expression “Hoist by your own petard”
This explains your situation.
OK, I will make a final attempt to help but only if you answer all questions
in full, if not you are on your own unless someone else wants to try.
1./ Has eMC ever worked?
2./ If so what version?
3./ What was date of original installation of eMC?
4./ What operating system at the time?
5./ What version of eMC do you currently have installed?
6./ You have mentioned Windows 8 and Windows 10
7./ What OS is installed now?
8./ If Windows 10, was it a clean install?
9./ Did you format your drive before the install?
10./ What version of Windows 10?
11./ Have you completed all current Microsoft OS updates?
12./ I need to know do you have an expired Trial or Free version?
I suspect the problem is still somewhere in your Windows OS, as I’ve never seen that hostfxr.dll file missing / error with any eM Client installation.
I would suggest again a clean install of the latest Windows 10 (22H2) version via the Microsoft Media creation tool on their website. Then d/l and reinstall the latest eM Client V9.2.1577
Tested on a clean Windows 10 ltsc (formatted with the removal of the system partition) Visual++, DirectX is installed. nvidia drivers, Net Framework update, other drivers from Windows Update.
The file hostfxr.dll did not disappear anywhere
This error does not depend on the version.Verified
