I just received my license key. According to the manual, I should open the upper-left “burger menu” and select Help, but I don’t see any License option there. How do I access the place to enter my key?

Windows Store versions don’t have the license option as you pay Microsoft directly monthly.
So if you purchased eM Client from the eM Client website and want to insert your activation key do the following “so you wont loose any settings”.
First go to “Menu / Backup”. You can see when the backup is complete in Show Operations via the dropdown on the right of Refresh.
Then once backed up “close eM Client” and uninstall eM Client and “delete the database” when asked on the uninstall wizard.
Then reinstall eM Client from the website link https://www.emclient.com/download as @Kim_Fisher advised.
Then once installed, open eM Client and “Skip / Cancel the initial setup wizard” and restore your backup via "Menu / File / Restore. Then insert your activation key via “Menu / Help / License”.
