Emoji Bug - Cuttet

Hello everyone,

Found a small bug in the emoji window.
The right side will be cut off, see screenshot below.

Windows 11 22H2 (22621.2361)
3440x1440 ¦ Scaling 150%

Greetings,

Angel

Unfortunately, I haven’t received an answer yet.
Reinstalling and deleting the account folder where everything is stored doesn’t help either.

Can you see all of them at 125% scalling or 100% scalling ?

@cyberzork

Unfortunately no.
Even if I change the resolution to 1080p and set the windows scaling to 100%.
Uninstalling and removing from the account folder
and where all the settings are stored doesn’t help either.

Ok. I cannot replicate that at Full HD 1920 x 1080p or 2K 2560 x 1440 at 125 % scalling or 150 % scaling with Windows 11 Pro. The emojis “are not cut off at all in either resolution”. All are visible.

I don’t have a 4K video card to test both of those same scalling Windows modes, but as you have this issue even at Full HD 1080p, then i suspect its either something to do with your eM Client version that may need updating or uninstalling and reinstalling, or something differant with your Windows 11.

What version of eM Client are you running ?

Also have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling eM Client ?

Also have you done all the latest Windows 11 updates ?

@cyberzork

I found the problem.
Reinstalling or deleting the account’s settings folder doesn’t help either.

It’s due to the text scaling of Windows 11 itself.
This is not “normal” Windows scaling.
The text scaling, see screenshot below, can be found at the bottom of the settings,
in Windows 11 under “Accessibility” and then “Text Size”.
These points are translated from German
and may have a different name in English in the original Windows.
For me, Windows 11 has an error.
If I select 116% text size, the next time I open the window,
not the 116%, but 114%.
I had this with all the different Windows 11 builds that I tested.
Windows 11 22H2, 23H2 etc.

The eM Client takes over this error from Windows and then cuts off the emojis on the far right.

I selected the text scaling to 116%
and aligned all programs accordingly for hours.

I hope this can be fixed somehow.

Angel

The text scaling, see screenshot below, can be found at the bottom of the settings,
in Windows 11 under “Accessibility” and then “Text Size”.

I tested the latest eM Client V9.2.2157 with Windows 11 Pro 23H2 and with “Accessibility Text Scaling” set anywhere from 115% right up to 150% at 1920 x 1080 Full HD res & 2560 x 1440 2K res and the Windows Display Scaling set to 100% default, and the emojis “are still not cut off”. They all fit in as normal. As mentioned previously i cannot however test 4K res on my system.

In eM Client I use Segoe UI 12 pt font in Settings for Composing emails. So might be to do with fon’ts. Try changing fon’ts in eM Client Mail / Compose section and see if that does anything.

Apart from eM Client compose fon’ts, i can only presume that you either have something different in your Windows 11 thats affecting the emojis or there is some issue with the eM Client installation itself.

You could also try resetting Windows 11 back to default fonts incase the default font in the OS has changed for some reason. You can do that via the old Control Panel. eM Client uses certain fonts in Win 10 & 11 for emojis to work properly.

To restore the default fonts in Windows 10 & 11 do the following:

Open the old Control Panel
Select Appearance and Personalization
Click on Fonts
Open Font settings.
Click Restore default font settings

Segoe UI is the default font in Windows 11 and Windows 10 families of operating systems. Segoe UI (User Interface) is a member of the Segoe family and it is used in most Microsoft products for user interface text, as well as for many of its online services

@cyberzork

Thank you for your effort.
Changing the font size in eM Client itself didn’t help.

Putting the fonts back didn’t help either.

I now have build 22621.2506 of Windows 11 Home 23H2 on it.
I installed Windows 11 using the official German ISO from May 2023.
I’ll reinstall Windows 11 when I get the chance.

Of course, the latest version of eM Client is installed.

I have now reinstalled Windows 11 and exactly the same problem occurs.
It’s because of the text scaling.

If I look at the file “MailClient.exe” under:
Properties" ; Compatibility: “Change high DPI settings”,
If you set it to “System-Advanced”, the emojis are no longer cut off on the right.
But then everything is bigger and the writing is a bit blurry.

Calling the programmers… can you please fix this?
That is certainly doable.
