Windows 11 desktop client 10.3.2619 is locking up after about 24-48 hours. On restart of the app, it will lock up every 1-2 hours until I reboot the machine. This has occurred about 20 times. I have all (non-preview) windows updates applied. I can’t see anything in the emclient logs or windows events that would indicate an issue. Perhaps tangentially, occasionally other apps (but never all) will also lock up. For example, Signal Desktop will lock up about 1/4 of the times EmClient does at approximately the same time. Thoughts?

Provided your mail database is not corrupted, could be “possible something running resident” in the background interfering with eM Client.
Or could be you might need Windows 11 OS updates or patches depending on your version.
Or possible a eg: cpu overclock speed issue or maybe a eg: fault ram stick causing lockups.
So first suggest “to rule out anything running resident” on Windows startup causing it, disable all non OS user related programs on startup and reboot and see if it then stops the lockups.
If it then doesn’t lockup, “enable those background user programs one at a time and reboot in between” till you find the program doing it.
If disabling all background non OS user related optional programs on startup makes no difference then re-enable those programs on startup and “next check for Windows updates” as there has been alot recently for 24H2 & 25H2.
Now if you already have the latest Windows updates for 24H2 / 25H2 “and you have overclocked the CPU for eg: gaming reasons” reset it back to default speed and see if that fixes it.
Also check for any new motherboard firmware and / video drivers too as outdated or older video drivers can sometimes cause Windows lockups.
Next “if your motherboard firmware and video drivers etc are all up to date and your CPU is not over locked”, then if you have an IMAP, Exchange, Office 365 or iCloud account and nothing in Local Folders, suggest to next “try creating a new mail database” and see if that fixes it.
To create a new database, “first close eM Client” and then go to the following hidden database folder and “rename it to eg: eM Client-Old”. Then reopen eM Client and setup as new.
(Windows hidden eM Client database folder)
“Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\eM Client”
Lastly, if you originally downloaded eM Client directly from the website, there is also later 10.4 versions of eM Client you can update & try via the release history page. If you do update, first make a manual backup of eM Client via “Menu / Backup” just incase you need to restore for any reason. Also close eM Client before updating.
Thank you for your response. I was already up to date with the OS. My machine had the latest firmware and drivers (done long before this issue started - so unlikely related). I thought I was up to date with emclient - and I did ask it to check for updates. But I then did what I should have done before posting, which is uninstall and re-install emClient. The client has been running for a few days now without issue. So as of now, things look good. Thanks again for the help!
This appears to be a 10.3 regression that Kim@emclient helped me with. I sent a dump to her last time and have reached out to do it again. It manifests as emclient quietly freezing when just sitting as a background task.
