emClient + JellyFish + Mark as Spam/Block?

Is there any way to integrate Jellyfish.ai with emClient?

My email provider uses JellyFish.ai for email spam filtering and blocking. I would like to be able to right click an email in emClient and “block domain/email” that goes one step beyond doing so just on the client. But by providing credentials/integration with JellyFish to create it as a server side rule to impact other clients I access my mail from.

I have not been able to do this to date and I don’t know if emClient support plugins/ways to override this behaviour.

eM Client doesn’t currently support external server spam ai plugins like Jellyfish.

If you want to block a domain or email address that is sending spam “and your mailbox online server spam ai engine isn’t automatically moving it to spam”, then either “right click on the subject” and select “Move to Junk / Move to Junk & Blacklist Domain” or “Move to Junk / Move to Junk & Blacklist email” and that normally then fixes it for future emails from that Domain or Email address arriving in the Inbox.

See eM Client blog on more / other options you can also do to block unwanted spam / junk mail.

Apart from that, “you can also block the specific domain or email address in the Jellyfish Server mailbox online” rules which then won’t show in your eM Client Inbox.

Yeah it’s just cumbersome to have to go to Jellyfish manually to make blocking rules for all forms of spam.

To your second point, how exactly does “Move to Junk / Move to Junk & Blacklist email and that normally then fixes it for future emails from that Domain or Email address arriving in the Inbox” work?

I assumed this was just a client side blacklist and as such, my mobile device which doesn’t use emClient is just going to get those spam emails still anyway. Hence the desire to have plugins/integrations/extensions to manage server side solutions from the client itself.

You don’t have to do that for all forms of spam. A good mail server ai engine will normally detect 99% of spam and move it automatically into the spam / junk folder at the mailbox end, which inturn will then mirror that in the eM Client spam / junk folder on the desktop and mobile app.

However as I mentioned prev if you’re spam ai engine (Jellyfish in this case) isn’t that good at detecting spam and you are getting alot of spam staying in the inbox, then “apart from what I already mentioned previously”, you might need to look at using an alternative ai spam engine…

Some users on this forum use an alternative ai server spam engine such as Mailwasher which they say works good. I personally haven’t used that as I use Gmail and Microsoft who both have excellent spam ai engines built-in to them.

Yes it works locally once added by automatically moving the blacklisted email address or blacklisted domain address from the Inbox when it arrives to the spam / junk folder in eM Client.

Yes doing this won’t work in the app or any other device, but it will work for eM Client for desktop.

Yeah the root of the issue is simply that. Namecheaps Jellyfish just isn’t that good. It gets some spam don’t get me wrong, but an email or 2 a day are still getting through that upon inspection are very obvious spam unfortunately.

I have looked, albeit briefly, into mailwasher and that could be an option.

I had desired to get my email off of gmail and namecheap’s price was right. But I guess you also get what you pay for :person_shrugging:
