EmClient CRASHES every time I copy contact

A simple “duplicate” contact function would serve well if it was available.
Your support team once suggested copying a contact, then change new name etc. This was working fine until recently.
Please fix! Thank you

If this is just started happening “and it happens with any contact” you try to copy & duplicate, then could be you have a eg: possible local mail database error or an error within the contacts.

Try closing first eM Client and then run the following manual database repair for Windows or Mac and see if that fixes it after you reopen eM Client.

(Repair eM Client database manually for Windows)

“Close eM Client and open a Windows Command Prompt. Not a powershell, but a command prompt”.

Paste in this command:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\eM Client\MailClient.exe” /dbrepair

Then reopen eM Client and see if that fixed the problem

(To repair eM Client database manually for Mac)

Close eM Client and then “open the Terminal app via either Launchpad or Utilities” on the Mac. Then Paste and run the following command.

/Applications/eM\ Client.app/Contents/MacOS/eM\ Client /dbrepair

Then reopen eM Client and see if that fixed the problem

Now if manually repairing the mail database doesn’t help, then your actual contacts might be possibly (out of sync with your online contacts) so you get a crash when trying to copy & duplicate.

If you have eg: IMAP acct contacts like with Gmail, Outlook, etc, they have “Repair” options available in eM Client to resync the contacts locally in eM Client with the server again.

So to run a Contacts repair if available on your acct, “Right Click” on the word “Contacts” directly under your account and then click “Properties” at the bottom. Then click the “Repair Tab” at the top and finally click “Repair. Once repaired, close and reopen eM Client.

Lastly if none of the above fixes it, then you might have a problem with your eM Client installation and you might need it reinstalled or updating depending on the version you have.

So if you do try uninstalling eM Client, don’t delete the database if asked on the uninstall wizard. Then redown the same or later version of eM Client from the release history page and reinstall. Then reopen eM Client and see if that fixes it.
