I did a clean install of eM Client using the MSIX Windows installer and notice that now when you uninstall it no longer deletes the hidden database folder like Mac which is great

It had always been only an option, not an automatic action.

What i mean is there is now “no prompt anymore in V11 to delete the database on the uninstall wizard” in Windows like there was previously with V6-10.
Is that how the release version will be, or will the delete prompt on uninstall be put back in ?

It is how it will be in the release version. There is no way how to do that with MSIX installation packages.

On Windows 11 25H2 the MSI installer got to about 60% and hung. After an hour I killed it with Task Manager. But it had already installed eM Client 11 beta, and it works (although some fonts are messed up). I had to manually uninstall eM Client 10, though.
Yesterday i installed the update on two Windows computers, one HP Z440 workstation with Windows 11 and one one HP Z4 G5 with Windows 11 for Workstations.
On the Z440 the installer failed the first time, iow just disappeared but never finished the install. On the second attempt it worked, but it did disappear this time as well but when i launched EMC this time it was the updated version i got.
On the Z4 G5 it worked but also just dissapeared though EMC had been installed.
I have never seen installers install an application but just vanishes without the standard “the app has been installed” message. If this is the way the shipping version installer behaves there will be many posts about that here, “I installed but it never worked, nothing happens, help me!”
Did you use the MSIX Windows installer or the MSI Installer ?
The MSIX installer does provide the UI and that’s what we will distribute to new users.
MSI installer is meant for upgrading only; it will be distributed using automatic updates to existing users with eligible license once v11 is out of beta. We didn’t mean for people to download the MSI setup and execute it manually but unfortunately there was no easy way to distribute the beta version to existing users. We may still change the appearance or behavior of the MSI update installer based on the feedback, but it’s meant only as a stop-gap solution for a one time upgrade scenario.

I don´t really remeber now, but on one of them, probaly the Z440, i used the MSI first and when it failed used the MSIX. That will explain why it failed first.

The MSIX installation process doesn’t have support for any customization. We can either put the database in the sandbox (and thus remove it on uninstall) or exclude it from the sandbox (and it stays there after uninstallation). We decided to exclude it from the sandbox to keep the behavior closer to the previous versions. There’s currently no way to ask the user to delete it on uninstall because the MSIX installation technology doesn’t support it.

We had a configuration error on the deployment servers for a couple of hours when the MSI setup always failed since it tried to download wrong eM Client version. This has been fixed on our end but any attempt to install the MSI during that time window would fail. We took steps to ensure this doesn’t happen again but we didn’t make a public statement because it affected only the beta.
