So there is a difference between Local Folders and local folders. Maybe that was a short-sighted decision by the developers in the nomenclature.
Local Folders, will not be deleted when removing accounts from eM Client. The other type, local folders, primarily refers to POP3 account folders that are separate from the Local Folders tree. This second type will be deleted when removing the corresponding account from eM Client.
In this example, the top folder set, IMAP folders, will be removed from eM Client when the corresponding account is removed. Because it is an IMAP account, the data will still be on the server, so will be visible again when re-adding the account to an email client.
The middle set, POP3 account, will also be removed from eM Client when its corresponding account is removed. Because it is POP3, all the data will be deleted.
The bottom set, Local Folders, will not be deleted when removing an account from eM Client.
Okay, on that. I was just confused because I had seen other threads that said your “Local Folders” (capitalized) would be wiped out when deleting an account. Thanks for the clarification! (And your endless patience!)
Update: I was never able to fix this problem with the “sent” folder, but I did find out that is only happening with one email app–the one on my phone. I have a Samsung Note 4, a Samsung tablet, a laptop and a desktop. I kept testing different ways of sending myself emails, and it turned out that the only time the sent emails didn’t sync with eM Client was when they were sent from my phone. If sent from the other devices, all was fine.
I then went to my phone to troubleshoot. I had two email programs–the native one that comes on the phone, which had been configured as POP3, plus an app for Xfinity Connect, which is the Comcast mobile app. I deleted the email account on the POP3, then tried the IMAP Xfinity account again, but the sent folder still did not sync.
I then added the my email account to the native phone app, but this time configured it as IMAP. That one works! EVERYTHING is synced AND the sent folder works in eM Client.
I actually preferred the Xfinity app for my email, but it just won’t sync the sent folder, and I give up. I’ll just use the native app on the phone, and all will be okay. Thanks!
Yes, they all synced with the SERVER, but the ones sent from the xfinity connect app on the phone did not sync with eM Client, even though they were, in fact, synced on the server. But yet the other native email app on the phone does sync with the server AND with eM Client, so I’m using this one for email until I can figure out why the other app on my phone doesn’t work with eM Client. It’s strange, because I would think that once it got synced onto the server (which it did) that it would then sync with the rest of the sent folder in eM Client, but it didn’t. All of my sent mail is synced on the server, no matter which device it came from, but the sent folder syncs all except those from that particular email app with eM Client.
Thanks a lot. Based on this suggestion, my issue is resolved. My email was automatically configured to use POP3, which leads my sent email from web email cannot be sync to eM Client. Now I re-configured it to IMAP manually and it works!!!
