after displaying and reading emails they continue to show as unread for up to 20 seconds. I must keep each email on screen until it shows read !
A couple of thoughts-- 1. There is an option at menu/tools/settings/mail/read that allows you to adjust the time before the email is marked read. I set this at 1 second. 2. I have noticed that the time described in 1. above does not start until the email is completely loaded. This means all graphics. Even though my internet speed is pretty fast (70mb up and down) I have noticed that some emails with graphics take a bit of time to download, probably die to the sender’s servers.
Yes, thanks for that. I already have tried different settings 0, 1, 2 seconds … as you say, it appears to be a download problem depending on what’s in the email to be downloaded … never had such probs with Live mail or Outlook. If no picture in email it shows read almost immediately. Not impressed !!
One more thought. By default, emc only downloads the headers during synchronization and the message body is not downloaded until you select the message. If you go to menu/tools/accounts, select the appropriate account and click on the imap tab, check “Download messages for offline use”, it will then download the complete message at time of synchronization, which will significantly speed up the load time when the message is selected. It’s pretty rare I see a delay in marking read with this option.
Thanks again … have done as you suggested. I sent a test email with small attachment photo (215K) from my yahoo address … it arrived on my mobile email app 13 minutes ago … still waiting on my Emclient computer sysyem !!! This cannot be right !
That’s strange, as imap messages are typically pushed from the server to the client, not by client polling. If you do a manual refresh, is the message received?
My computer got it’s knickers in a knot at the time of that email ! Problem resolved. It now appears that the delay is mainly from one website sender that has ‘content’ picture in email … I tried another email to myself with 2 attachments, allowed sync time before opening mail page, clicked on email and it was ‘read’ almost instantly.
