Email sync not working

Since installing Windows 10 Im having trouble getting new email. Generally EM will only get new email if I shut it down and re-open it. I can see new mails in webmail but EM doesnt, no matter how many times I press Send/Receive. If I then close and open it gets them just fine.
Theres no error, it goes through all the motions but simply doesnt see the newer messages.

Anyone got an idea on what causes this and how to fix? Im not really “ok” With closing and reopening the client every 10 minutes to check for new messages.

forgot to add, have done the repair option a number of times. doesnt help. it gets the new mail but then the same problem persists

Hello Barny, what version of eM Client are you currently using on your computer, can you please check the exact release number in Help > About? What mail service are you using with eM Client?

Are you using any security software on your computer, that might be blocking the IDLE/IMAP connection to the server when you’re trying to fetch new data using eM Client? Are you using an IMAP account?

Please try to update to this release and check if the issue persists, 6.0.22930.0.

I have installed the update, the same day as your post. I think its working better but Im not 100% sure as my web host is having some trouble lately with dns issues. Im getting timeouts today but so far I have not experienced the problems I had previously. So thanks for that. Will update once I know more.

Sorry to say Im still experiencing these issues. Getting into a habit of closing and reopening EM every 20 minutes or so and then new messages appear… EM isnt giving any errors, its going through all the motions properly, its just not noticing theres new mail.

I too had a similar problem.  My email was not updating, even when I sent an email to myself.  Then I switched email servers from Gmail to Ymail to see if there was a difference.  There was.

I actually have 4 mail servers I use under different names.  Gmail, AOLMail, YMail, and a personal mail server I host on my own website that never gets any spam.

It seems for me the problem was that I would send a message and it was out there in internet-la-la-land for a period of time…especially with the AOL server.  I would send the message from my Gmail account to my AOL account, and it wouldn’t show up for 15 minutes.  I even went on the AOL website and used their online mail to look for new mail…it wasn’t there.  Then miraculously, it would show up.  Sometimes in 3 minutes, othertimes in 25 minutes. 

I always though mail transfer was immediate…evidently not.  I guess in thinking about it, my problem was almost exactly the opposite of yours.  Still the point is the EM couldn’t pull in the new mail from the webmail server until it showed up there.

When I use my personal email server, it is always instantaneous.  And, I am using the free Windows 10 upgrade on an old Gateway E4610S and so far have zero problems with it.

Hope you get it fixed…I love EM for its simplicity, look, and power over Outlook’s convolution of confusion…

I like EM as well for its UI and its the reason I havent swapped so far.
The main issue though is I do see the emails in the webmail interface so I know its on the server but EM doesnt appear to. Im not using gmail etc, Im using a paid for hosting account. If the email wasnt in the webmail then I would assume its a host issue but as I can see it, and EM cant, I have to assume its an EM thing.
I havent tried using POP because I use Imap on my phone/pc. So couldnt say if its imap related or not. Its a problem though and only started happening after upgrading to windows 10. I doubt thats the cause though.

Hello again, are you using any security software on your computer, that may have disabled the application’s ability to connect to the server? If so, please try to disable the security software and check if the issue persists.

If you’re seeing any connectivity errors in the Operations window, being thrown by the application, please switch to the “Log” tab when they occur, copy the content of the log and submit it to us here on the forum for more information.

I use AVG and have done since I installed EM, which was long ago, way before I had this trouble. AVG is set to ignore the EM folder. 
If it was security software then surely it would block all new mail? as it doesnt, it finds new mail as soon as the program is opened but after that, sometimes it will see new mails, sometimes it wont, more often than not it wont.

I have tested with Thunderbird and that doesnt have this problem.

Hello Barny, if the issue persists with your computer security disabled, please make sure to enable additional logging in Tools > Settings > Advanced, please enable logging for IMAP and SMTP and replicate the issue. Once the issue reoccurs, please restart the application and navigate back to the advanced settings window in order to submit the logging data.

Please submit the logs to my work mail, [email protected] with a reference link to this forum topic.
