Email sent size limit

When composing an email I recieve an error saying that email size of x exceeds the limit of 10kB, which generates similar messages every so often. How do I stop this please.

This is not an eMC issue which has no size restrictions.
The limit is imposed by your email service provider.

¡Buena suerte!

I am having EXACTLY the same error using Zoho Mail as my IMAP… happening on both eM Client and Outlook Mobile! Did you find a solution?

I am having the same problem, EXACTLY.
It is Zoho Mail IMAP, too. imappro.zoho.eu

eMC does not play with Zoho nicely, apparently (or vice versa).
(There is an email flag handling deficiency, too, but that is not for this thread).

eMC used to send emails twice (so I had two copies in a sent folder in Zoho Mail Web).
Now it sends a single email then that error appears (instead of sending a second copy obviously).
Drafts folder is empty (and there is no “sending” folder in eMC to check), yet that error re-occurs on every send communication with Zoho IMAP server (even after application restart, reboot, many days after, etc.).

I managed to get rid of that error: select “Edit element” in “Errors” of “Operations” dialog for each message and then send again but using a different mail server (I have a gmx.com, too, fortunately). Yet this must be done for every message sent!
Interestingly, messages sent that way are not copied to the “Sent” folder.

Zoho categorically said it is not them… however as it is happening with eM Client AND Outlook Mobile (Android) - in fact Outlook mobile refuses to even send! - it MUST be something at the Zoho end surely?
I had noticed the odd duplicated sent item actually - thought it was me!
The support guy there couldn’t get me when I said no way two totally unrelated applications, on different platforms, report EXACTLY the same 10kb error! He said as Webmail was fine it wasn’t their problem… GRRRR Of course webmail is OK as it isn’t using IMAP - SIGH

I can recall that Outlook had a very limited support for IMAP (but it was years ago, Windows version).
My problems with eMC are on Windows (the only platform I use eMC) so I will check Thunderbird (maybe some other clients, too).

BTW, zoho has its own client that sends emails without that problem  (Android version, at least).

I tried Mailbird earlier and it has none of the problems (but doesn’t look/feel as nice as eMC) … at least it doesn’t report them anyway.

I did a full clean install of eMC too and it is the same. Interestingly the email does send… it’s very annoying. Also annoyingly I lost all my TAGs!

Going to try Beta 10 - as I deleted my database anyway for clean install (and lost all my TAGs!) i can easily sync it again if I need to go back to 9 (or leave completely).

OH MY GOD - 10 is even worse! It’s like Outlook Mobile now - REFUSES to send even…

Zoho insist it’s not them telling eMC the 10kb limit but it must be right?

Tried using both Zoho servers imap.zoho.eu and imappro.zoho.eu (and smtp versions) - crazy

For the last few days I have been getting this error when sending mail. I use Zoho Mail as my IMAP server and this same error is happening on Outlook on my mobile too!
Mails send normally from the web version of Zoho Mail, and they say nothing is wrong at their end.
It’s weird that both eM Client and Outlook both report this error.
Outlook blankly refuses to send it, but eM Client actually sends the mail anyway but reports the error with the red exclamation mark at the top of the screen.
I am at my whits end with this… something must be telling both clients there is a weird random 10KB ( Yes KB!!!) limit?

This is definitely a Zoho SMTP mail server related issue as @skybat advised. Nothing in eM Client has sending limits.

You can see clearly in your screenshot Quote: “Sending this email is not supported by the server which has a server limit of 10kb”. So Zoho is causing the problem not eM Client.

Contact Zoho technical support again and tell them the exact message error in the screenshot.

Zoho technical support need to escalate this issue to their mail server support guys to fix

He said as Webmail was fine it wasn’t their problem

Sending mail via http webmail is completely different to sending via a mail client using SMTP.

We looked at some logs a user sent us. In those logs we can see that the Zoho server specifies: APPENDLIMIT=10240

That means the size is limited to 10K by the server. You will need to ask the email provider to fix it.
