email received but not shown immediately?

After refreshing in emClient I can see that my account has three dots “…” in the left column which tells me the client has received some emails. These emails dont display immediately and it can be some minutes before they do, even after hitting refresh. 

I know there are emails as I can see them on the phone. 

Is this a common experience? Can I tweak emClient to display emails immediately?
