I’ve been running Email Client version 9.2.2307 (last build) on Windows 10 (fully updated, using only Windows Defender for security). Recently, I’ve run into a strange issue:
Some messages(always from the same senders, DHL and my bank) just won’t open. They keep loading endlessly, and nothing is displayed.
What’s odd is that most emails open normally — except for a few, like one from my bank. The only visible difference is that these messages have a small badge icon on the right, which I assume indicates they are certified or digitally signed.
Has anyone else experienced this? Could it be related to how the client handles certified emails or certain security certificates?
At the moment, I don’t have a workaround. Restarting the client, repairing the installation, and reloading the message haven’t solved the problem.
If you’ve run into this issue and found a fix, I’d really appreciate your input.
I would first check your Privacy settings as could be some eg: “external content being blocked”.
Go to “Menu / Settings (Preferences) / Mail / Privacy” and to test set it to “Display unsafe content in all messages” and see if it makes any difference as per the example screenshot below.
If that then works, then you just adjust what options you want in the privacy settings for that sender.
If settings to display unsafe content in all messages makes no difference then “right click in the body” of one of those emails and click “Save As” and save it a (.eml) file. Then if you have a current active paid Pro, Personal or Business version, go to the VIP support page and login and lodge a support ticket and attach that .eml file example to be investigated.
thanks for replying and for the tips. I’ve tested the two options you suggested:
Privacy settings – I changed the setting to “Display unsafe content in all messages”, but unfortunately this made no difference. The issue remains unchanged.
Saving as .eml – I attempted to right-click and save one of the affected emails as a .eml file. However, the Save As dialog opens but the process never actually starts — the progress bar doesn’t move and the saving dialog box stays stuck indefinitely, to the point I have to kill the app via task manager.
So at the moment neither option is working. Would you have any other tip? I do have a paid standard (no VIP) license.
When you right click and select Save As in the body of the email, you then first “select a folder / directory” to save the file in, and then type a file name and click “Save” at the bottom.
If that doesn’t work, “try reboot your computer” and try saving the email again. If rebooting still doesn’t allow you to save the eml file, then you might possibly have either a problem with the eM Client installation, or something else outside the mail client is interfering with it in someway.
So as you have Windows, try uninstalling eM Client and “don’t delete the database” when asked on the uninstall wizard. Then re-download the same V9.2.2307 from the release history page and reinstall and see if that will then save that email.
Note:- Before uninstalling make a manual backup via “Menu / Backup” incase you need to restore for any reason. You can see when the backup is complete in Show operations via clicking the dropdown on the right of Refresh.
Apart from that you could try eg: installing / upgrading to the latest eM Client V10 and see if that will open those emails.

If you have a paid eM Client version, but have run out of your 12 months support time to lodge a ticket, you can get another year support extension via the following page for offical support.
