Email body too long error for short email with no attachment

Hi reporting an error preventing me from replying to an email.

  • Email is part of a long chain. Reply is short and contains no attachments
  • Tried disabling conversation view in both list and email body to no effect
  • As my previous mail client (Outlook) did not and still does not have this error, I do not think the problem is Gmail limiting my email size

Version is 9.0.1361 (647eeb3). Will provide log if asked for.

Sounds like the size of the email or something in the body of the email causing it.

If you look at the image I posted, you can see the email body. It is a short message of plain text.

I suspect then, you have something hidden in the background of the email “not showing” saying the size of the email is much bigger than it really is.

So copy and paste that short message of plain text into Notepad or Similiar program which will strip out anything other than the text, and then create a new email and see if you still get the same error message.
