Hi. I am new to eM Client and have a question regarding the backup issue. I am hesitant to purchase the personal license until my concern is addressed.
My company recently changed the email service from Gmail to Outlook 365. And it deploys a 6-month purge policy. I would like to know how to keep all emails available even when the old emails are gone from the server. Additionally, eM Client offers a backup feature. I would like to understand if it is possible to keep all old emails and only sync the new emails that are not included in the backup files/folders. Moreover, I intend to check emails on multiple devices, so POP3 may not work for me.
I appreciate all the comments from the community. Thank you.

You could use either the Automatic Archive that moves Messages and Message Folders older than X Days to a Local Folder within eM Client.
Or you could Copy or Move Server Messages and Message Folders to an External (.emdf) Data File which can be mounted permanently to add messages anytime, or can be unmounted if you don’t need those messages all the time.
(Automatic Archiving)
Quote: “Automatic archiving moves message older than selected threshold to archive folder stored locally. This reduces amount of storage required on the server and at the same time helps you to keep your folders clean”.

(Data Files)
Quote: “Data File is a small separate local database that can be connected to eM Client to use when you need it (mount/unmount). The data file will be in our custom file format EMDF (eM Client Data file)”.
