EM Thinks My Laptop is a Phone, Wont Add Exchange Account

I was able to add one of my Exchange email accounts to EM Client just fine. But I cannot add the other because the account requires extra security, and the authentication steps demand that I install an app meant only for a phone. It asks me to scan the image with my phone, which would be useless, of course, because I want the account on my computer.

It offers an alternate method, but this consists of copying a code into the authentication window, but the authentication window just sits there, waiting for something to happen. There is no reaction from it, no where to paste in the code.

And so I get no six digit code back to confirm the device, or whatever it is trying to do.

Why is EM Client telling the Exchange server that I am using a phone? Will this be fixed? Is there any other way to get my account added?

Sounds like you have 2 step verification in this specific exchange account which has been set to verify with an authenticator app on the mobile. You can alt setup 2 step to go via normal mob sms wirh a code.

You will need to go into your exchange account online and adjust that setting. Your mail server tech support will be able to assist you with that. Once adjusted, then rerun the automatic email wizard in eM Client.

Once more in English?

What setting would that be? Any idea where I find it? Or did you mean, “Your mail server tech support must do this for you.”?

I’ve looked for something that seems like what you’re describing, but not finding it. Maybe with more info I could get there.

Thanks!

Most mail accounts on the server have a eg: Security or Advanced security area where you setup 2 step or 2 factor (2FA) authentication to then verifiy logging into your account.

So go into your online account section and look for a secuirty area. If you carnt find it anywhere, as i said contact your mail server technical support via phone or website for assistance.

You can usually type 2FA in most websites for help setting that up two factor your online mail account
