EM crashing at startup, emails can not be reached at all, total eclipse of the mail

After a Windows crash the next time windows was started EM did not manage to start any more: application crashes immediately after the start, the main EM window does not appear.

Tried to reinstall with latest version, did not help, still getting the same message at each start.

Currently I have lost access to my last some years of emails.

Hello, not quite sure what you’re referring to, are you getting this report out of the Windows “Application is not responding” window or is there an error report thrown by the application immediately after starting up?

What mail service are you using with eM Client and what operating system are you using with eM Client?

If there’s an application crash report window shown, can you click on the “Show error” button and submit the error report to us for more information, unfortunately what you’ve submitted doesn’t have any details regarding the error occurred.

first of all many thanks for this real fast response! Even in this desperate situation it is a very good feedback for a SW site like Yours to get a so fast response on problems!

This is a strange story indeed. EMClient is not starting at all, so what I get is actually a windows-style crash message, and there I have only the details generated by windows which I have copied.
There is no wait time to get this message, e.g. not “application not responting” - the message comes 1 sec after trying to start the application in the Start menu.
What I was thinking or guessing that some database is severely corrupted - tried to use a database fix tool dbrepairrebuildall.exe but it crashed the same way immediately after start.
Possibility is that I somehow fiind the email db and move it out to a new place so that EM can start with an “empty” situation.
Tried to reinstall EM with newest version but no change, before and after the same crash.
Note that I am IT specialist myself.


Hello, can you please download this utility, www.emclient.com/tools/procdump_unhandled.zip  and run the procdump .bat file in this archive on your computer? Replicate the issue and the procdump utility should create log in C://Dumps or the procdump extracted folder after the application crashes again.

Please submit this .DMP file to us for more information about this issue.
