eM Client translated my own email — how to undo?

On a few occasions I have been writing an email in my native language and apparently hit some unknown keyboard combination that translated my entire email into English.

And … there seems to be no option to undo. Right now I have a very long email in front of me that is in English but shouldn’t be. My only option seems to be to rewrite the whole thing.

How do I undo these unwanted machine translations? And is there a setting somewhere to switch the off entirely?

Thanks,

To turn off translation:
Menu/Settings/Mail/Translation - on right at to uncheck ‘Enable message translation’
If I use a not familiar computer I use a text editor then copy & paste if I am not sure of actions.
I do not know if it is able to reverse translation in eM Client, if not it should be.
Maybe you can use Google or other online translation and correct any bad translation there will be then paste in your message.

¡Buena suerte!

Thanks, but you have misunderstood the question. ‘Enable message translation’ is already switched off, and I am not talking about translating incoming messages.

The problem is my own messages. A few times I have inadvertently hit some keyboard combination that translated the email I was in the middle of writing. I didn’t want that, and there seems to be no way to undo the translation and go back to the original text.

Thanks again for taking the time though.

On a few occasions I have been writing an email in my native language and apparently hit some unknown keyboard combination that translated my entire email into English.

Its the eM Client manual “Translation Keyboard Shortcut” keys via the Settings as per the screenshot below.

When you press the below keys, it brings up a “Translate window” which is set by default to Source “Auto” and Destination Language whatever you set default in Settings. Obviously you can change this.

And … there seems to be no option to undo. Right now I have a very long email in front of me that is in English but shouldn’t be. My only option seems to be to rewrite the whole thing.

Once translated, to go back to the previous language, press the below shortcut keys again and change the Source & Destination and then click Translate.

Note:- The Translate shortcut keys only seems to work when you are in the Compose, Reply or Forward windows. The shortcut keys don’t seem to work when reading emails in the Preview Pane.

(Translate Shortcut Keys)

Windows - Press Ctrl T
Mac - Press ⌥⌘T

(Pressing the Translate Shortcut Keys on Mac example)

Thanks a lot. That could have been it, but the “destination language” was set to my native language, so hitting the keyboard combination should not translate it into English.

I am wondering if it’s perhaps not eM Client, but Windows 11, doing the translating when I hit the mysterious keybord combination …

In any case, I found the setting in your screenshot and changed it to something impossible to hit by mistake — just in case eM Client was the culprit after all.

Thanks again!!

thanks, what a PITA, I spent half an hour formulating some emails and then
BAM, they were in a crappy translation in the wrong language with no way back. @ eM I would expect a confirmation window if this cannot be undone!
