eM Client reset following a crash

Hi,

One of our computers has stability issues and crashes frequently without warning, causing eM Client not to close properly. As a result, it usually performs a database integrity check upon startup. But not this time: we are ending up with a reset database. We can still see folders bearing alphanumeric names and containing what seems to be a copy of our full database. At the root folder, we can now see the files of a blank database. How shall we proceed from there, Are we to simply copy, paste and replace the content of the latest alphanumeric string folder into the root folder? Or are we to import this database?

Thank you, in advance, for your attention and reply.

Hi @BAAC

eMC has a backup facility, do you have this configured to make regular backups?

Hi @skybat,

Thank you very much for taking the time to read our support request and make a valuable suggestion. We unfortunately did not make backups and should have indeed. Our question would be whether we can point to the latest folder named with an alphanumerical string in the Settings / General / Storage section and open the database in such folder?

Hi @BAAC

Not as far as I am aware, however, others may know differently.
Perhaps it would be a good idea to investigate the reason for the frequent crashes and do something about it.
You have more than one computer, running eMC?
Therefore can I assume that you use IMAP and not POP mail?
If this is the case once up and running eMC will sync with the server.
Also, if the other computers are running eMC, if you haven’t already done so as the result of this issue “setup Backup” before you do anything else.
Then if the accounts on the other computers mirror the crashed machine, completely delete eMC from the crashed machine and reinstall - skip setup when asked, next copy the backup file from the machine of your choice to the crashed machine (desktop) and run Menu ->File ->Restore by pointing to the copied backup -> allow reync

¡Buena suerte!
