On initial setup, eM Client configured my Outlook.com to AirSync server m.hotmail.com by default. I did not get any email downloaded. I tried outlook.live.com and voila! emails downloaded. Problem: constant errors reporting unable to sync Calendar. Spent a lot of time tying to resolve this to no avail until I re-configured AirSync server to s.outlook.com. No more errors! So far, so good… but the trial and error process demands too much time. eM Client needs a tutorial on the proper way to set up Outlook email.
Next: I suppose it will take another day or two of trial and error to figure out how to import my Office Outlook (pst) files… I have a number of customized .pst files… this is gonna be painful.
I put v.7 in my subject, but it got dropped for some reason. Also, the default setup included only Calendar and Contacts, and not Mail. That is why I did not get eMail using m.hotmail.com
I had no idea about Microsoft AirSync server issues until trying to use eM Client. A tutorial is not just a suggestion, it is a MUST!
Well done Ed! It seems that works for me too. I’d almost gotten to the point of considering switching again to another client, just when I’d decided that eM client was exactly what I was looking for to replace Windows Live Mail. I just hope that the end of service via Outlook.com doesn’t cock everything up again.
I’m a little confused right now…
So I have the excact same problem as you two and I changed the AirSync Server to s.outlook.com (at least I think I did, take a look at the screenshot) but it only sync my folder structure, e-mails are still missing…
Am I doing something wrong?
Like you, Andre, I’ma little confused. I thought when I changed the server to Outlook I’d solved the problem because I was then receiving mail and the constant syncing had stopped, but I now find that I can’t _ send _any mail, so this definitely isn’t solved. As Ed says, we really really need some proper instructions on setting up eM client. Without them it is beginning to look like eM client isn’t fit for purpose. Is there some way of flagging this topic for the attention of moderators? At the moment it feels as though we are all feeling around in the dark.
Well I can’t relate to the sending problem, but I haven’t sent a mail the last days soo… Anyways. Apart from that, I totally agree with you! Yet I don’t know if we are able to “flag” the topic…
Unfortunately Microsoft is phasing out the support of AirSync. To remedy this, please follow these steps:
In a browser, login to your account at outlook.com. If your mailbox has been moved to the new Exchange format, the top left corner will show Outlook Mail. If your account hasn’t been migrated yet, it will show Outlook.com.
If it shows Outlook Mail, you need to set up your Hotmail/Outlook/Live account in eM client as an Exchange account. To do this, go to Mail>Exchange. Be aware that eM Client can take up to 5-10 minutes to obtain the server details this way.
If your account hasn’t been migrated yet, you need to connect through IMAP. Go to Mail>Other, enter “imap-mail.outlook.com” and port 993 in the incoming mail server settings and “smtp-mail.outlook.com” and port 587 in the outgoing server settings. Press ignore when the setup attempts to diagnose server status. After you’ve done that, go to IMAP tab in your account page and set your security policy to “Use SSL/TLS on special port (legacy)”, then navigate to the SMTP tab and set your security policy to “Force usage of SSL/TLS”.
