since upgrade unable to use settings menu nothing happens when i alter settings

Such a basic feature should work without problems. Do you have access rights to the directory where eM Client stores settings (default is C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\eM Client or C:\Document and Settings\YourUsername\Application Data\eM Client or directory set in menu Tools->Settings->Storage) ?
