eM Client creates a category for every Gmail label/ folder effectively freezing the client when Categories are selected

I am currently trialing eM Client v7.0.27943.0 for consideration in an enterprise-wide deployment for users which currently use Gmail as their main email service.

The current deal-breaker is that eM Client is creating categories for every Gmail label (i.e. as well as creating folders for each label as it should).

As some users have several hundred Gmail labels (= folders) in use, the consequence of this behaviour is that whenever a user right-clicks ‘Categories’ 1-2 minutes pass by effectively freezing eM client while it loads these categories.

Within Gmail’s own settings I have switched off ‘Show in Label List’ and ‘Show in Message List’ for all labels however this has not changed the behaviour. Evidently I don’t want to unselect ‘Show in IMAP’ for each label as I understand that this will also prevent the labels correctly appearing as folders in eM client.

Does anyone know how Gmail labels can be removed from categories while preserving their use as folders?

Hello Correzpond,

We’re sorry for the inconvenience. This is something that we’re working on, could you please message me at [email protected] with a link to this thread?

Thank you,
Maurice

Thanks. Will do.

Frankly that was a waste of time. Have now uninstalled the development installs of em Client v7 which failed multiple challenges in testing as an enterprise candidate and now looking for another iMap client which will *actually work* reliably with Gmail in an enterprise environment.
