eM Client crashes after update

eM Client reports that there is an upgrade.
I click on the button to start the upgrade and it crashed, rendering eM useless.

What to DO!

Download and install the latest version from the Release History.

Still Getting this error:

I got exactly the same message!

You need to uninstall eM Client, then download the file again from the Release History and install it.

What will happen with my emails???

As long as you don’t delete the database directory during the uninstall, everything will still be there after reinstalling.

So when you see the following prompt, choose No:

I did what you said, but it doesn’t work. I downloaded 8.1.876.0 (Monday, December 7, 2020) first, but got the same error.

I uninstalled again and downloaded 8.1.857.0 (Friday, December 4, 2020) and, of course, I got the same error again!!!

Can’t I post a pic here?

What am I supposed to do now?

Please see if this is of any help:

Where is the database hiding? Hope not in eM Client!

By default the database is in C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\eM Client.

As long as you choose NOT to delete this directory during the uninstall, all your data and settings will be there when you open the application after the reinstall.

OK! Then I will remove the directory,

My gosh! It all worked again! Thank you so very much! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
