eM Client becomes unresponsive to any input

I have started a new thread though it is similar to a complaint in March 2021. I find that eM Client becomes almost entirely unresponsive to inputs - not just typing but attempts to read new emails, etc. I have installed the most recent version of 9.1 and I use eM Client for both contacts and claendars. The database is stored on an SSD partition but it is quite large - see below. My impression is that the unresponsive behaviour dates to when I started using eM Client for contacts and calendars. Certainly the logs suggest that the slowdowns occur during synchonizations. Hence, I have disabled the CalDAV and CardDAV options on all but one account.

As suggested I have altered the synchonization interval to 30 mins but I am not very happy with that as I would like to collect emails more frequently without manual intervention. Is there any way of setting separate time intervals for email checks and contact/calendar synchronization? Is there anythig else that I should do? I have already disabled conversations.

Finally, I would mention that the time taken by backups is awful. I carried out a backup before installing version 9.1. It took nearly 3 hours despite the fact that I barely used the computer during the backup. The backup file is 17.5 GB but nonetheless that is very slow.

If you have IMAP, your Inbox is synced in real-time with the server and is not affected by this setting. It only affects other folders, calendars and contacts.

If you have Exchange, that syncs the Inbox on 1 minute intervals otherwise the same applies.

If you have POP3, your new mail will only be collected on that interval.

Thank you, that is useful to know.

I have one follow-up question. How do I stop or control synchronization of contacts and calendar with Exchange Web Services? I can’t see a way of switching it off in the eM Client account settings nor can I identify a mechanism of turning synchronization on or off in my Office365 account.

Unfortunately you can’t do that in eM Client. It is a single protocol that syncs mail, contacts, calendars and settings.
