eM Client Automatic Periodic backup is not working with latest Mac Ventura OS update 13.5.1

eM Client V9.2.2054 Automatic Periodic backup is not working with latest Mac Ventura OS update 13.5.1 i did on the 22nd of August.

I’ve disabled it and re-enabled it and re-checked and reset the path to the same location, but still not automatically backing up. If i manually backup eM Client via “File / Backup” that works fine and creates the new dated backup.zip file so the same location folder has no access issues.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled eM Client via the release history page (without deleting the eM Client database folder) but still the same problem. No periodic auto backup is working any longer ?

Wondering if any other users also found this same issue with the latest Mac OS update ?

So sounds like something has changed in the latest Mac OS update thats affected eM Client.

Can you check a setting please in your Mac System Settings > General > Login Items.

The eM Client entry needs to be enabled in the section for Allow in the Background.

Yes eM Client is already enabled in the Login Items / “Allow in Background” as per below screenshot.

Ive even tried today disabling that slider and re-enabling that slider but still the same problem.

I have just noticed similar in Windows 11. My ‘daily’ backup shows last one was a week ago.
I enabled background apps and it then backed up this morning. I wonder why the change?

@Gary

I found the problem is that the automatic periodic backup wont automatically backup “to a cloud drive like Google drive or One Drive” etc, due to “the cloud drive takes aprox 5-10 seconds on average to connect” after the os desktop and icons appear. So eM CIient i suspect failes to initiate the auto backup as it couldn’t find the cloud path on computer login.

Thats why the manual eM CIient backup allways works going to the cloud folder “as i do that after the cloud drive is connected” when i open eM CIient.

Tested this again today with the the latest eM Client for Mac V9.2.2230 and Sonoma OS with the sutomatic periodic backup pathed to my “Google Drive \ Documents \ eM CIient” folder location.

So a suggestion would be “if could be done in a future update”, to “have an option in the automatic periodic backup” to eg: “run after say 30 sec” on computer login startup. That will then give more than enough time for any cloud drives to connect first if a user sets a cloud drive folder as a backup path.

Note: Lots of eM Client personal and business friends of mine now work directly of cloud drives, so apart from the desktop icons, all their files are now only in cloud folders which then would be good to have eM CIient also automatically backup directly to the cloud.
