I tested the individual serial Email process the same way (Word/Excel → MAPI → eM-Client) using Windows 11 and Office 365: Same issue, it doesn’t work! It works with Outlook but not eM-Client.
I sent screenvideos to your dev-team (Mrs. Braná) to show that it isn’t working, neither with MacOS nor with Win 11!
If this is right, there’s no scenario to use eM-Client for mass (serial) emails with individual details per addressee.
Any explanation?
As I understood and tried, the mentioned ‘solution’ doesn’t fulfill the requirements: Mass (serial) emails with individual details for every addressee. With the ‘share’ function I can only share one email.
Or am I wrong?
Okay.
This is quite surprising when MS (at least in old specifications) talks about MAPI as an interface between Word and Outlook regarding Mail Merge.
And therefore means that it does not affect macOS in particular, but also Windows.
In the meantime I asked Mrs. Braná how I can switch from eM client back to Outlook without data loss. The problem: Outlook for macOS can only import from an OLM or PST file. But eM client has no export option to this file format.
So at the moment I am in a dead end and can only pursue my professional activities with great limitation because of the limitations of the eM client.
I hope Mrs. Braná can provide a solution to go back from eM-Client to Outlook without data loss.
After a year, I did some research again here in the forums to see if there was a solution in the meantime. So far, without success.
For your information, here is what happened after the last answer a year ago:
eM (Mrs Braná) had no solution a year ago for serial emails from Word via eM-Client with individual content such as invoice amount and contact person per addressee.
eM (Mrs Braná) was also unable to offer any other solution for returning to Outlook other than buying a special software. At my expense, of course.
In my capacity as data protection officer, I had recommended eM as an alternative to Outlook for data protection reasons to many clients. Since the sMAPI and eM-Client disaster, I no longer make this recommendation.
The eM-Client is unusable for anyone who wants to send serial e-mails with customised content from Word.
eM Client of course works with sMAPI, but that is a Windows protocol. There is no sMAPI on the Mac.
It is very simple - you don’t need any “special software”. Just export your data from eM Client using the built-in export options and import it into another app. Or even easier, if the data is synced with a server, it is stored on the server, so just add the same account to another app and it will see the same data.
It is not true that an export/import from eM-Client to Outlook for Mac is possible without third-party software!
eM-Client can only export emails in the ‘EML’ or ‘EMDF’ formats.
Outlook for Mac, on the other hand, can only import from a ‘PST’ or ‘OML’ file.
We already discussed this extensively in 2023. If you, Gary, know better, then show me here - and others interested - how to do it.
You referred to your colleague Marie Braná several times at the time (see also above). She wrote by email on 6 October 2023 (quote from her email):
‚ Dear Mr …, there are apps on the market that offer the conversion from EML to PST, please have a look there. Thank you very much. Yours sincerely Marie Braná eM Client’
As I said, if your colleague Marie Braná and I are wrong, then show the way here step by step.
It doesn’t help me as a Mac user that sMAPI works under Windows.
In addition: I also tested the functionality under Windows 11. I was also unable to send serial emails with individualised content via eM-Client under Windows 11. We also discussed this in 2023 - without any result …
