I just started using eM client and right for the start I got a red triangle next to one of my accounts. I use AVG security, and I found that turning off the email shield allowed Em client to work. It continued to work when I turned the email shield back on . . . but eventually the red triangle reappeared and it stopped working. Turn the email shield off and on and it works again.
Adding eM client to the AVG unblocked programs didn’t help.
I really want to use eM client but this is a deal-breaker if there’s no fix. I don’t encounter this problem in Outlook or Thunderbird.
Yes AVG is known to interfere and block alot of mail clients including eM CIient when the mail shield is enabled. Most users normally disable the shield so AVG “is still running resident and still working”, but just not interfering with the mail coming in or out.
You can try the following though in AVG.“which has worked for some users”. If the below still doesn’t fix the problem, then you will have to contact AVG technical support for assistance.
Allow eM CIient into AVG (Blocked and Allowed apps) section. See AVG website . Scroll down on the page for the heading “Add and Allowed app”. Or go to their support home page and type “Blocked and Allowed apps”
Also (export the AVG certificate) and then (import the AVG certificate) into eM CIient. See AVG website how to export the Mail Shield certificate. Or go to their support home page and search for “Export Certificate”
(Import AVG Mailshield Certificate into eM Client V9 & 10 Beta)
Thats a lot considering other email clients dont have the problem - they have aspects i dont care for but they do function. But I’ll follow your suggestions. Does 10 beta have this issue? Would i be better off migrating to that?
This is not an eM Client issue.
It has to do with your settings in the AV app. It’s function is to manage the connection to the Internet in a way, so it is really only doing its job, but it is not configured correctly. Best option is to contact the AV app vendor directly and ask for assistance. They will be able to help you with setting up the app correctly, so it doesn’t block applications that you want to access the Internet.
In the meantime, disable the mail shield so you can continue to access your email. There is no loss in security as any attachments you open in eM Client will still be screened by the AV app.
