Unless I am mistaken, the only way to roll back from a product update is a complete uninstall and reinstall (I am referring to minor updates, not such updates as from v9 to v10). Since I have had issues after updates, I would really like to see a way to roll back as easily as one can update. If an issue is addressed after reporting it to the support team, this can take weeks; if it affects functionality seriously, there should be an easy path to roll back.

If the eM client update was only very minor eg: V10.4 to V10.4.1 “you might get away with” just uninstalling eM Client and “don’t delete the database” if you have Windows, and then download the same Pc or Mac version you had before either from the release history page or Windows Store “depending on where you originally installed it from”, and then reinstall and it might still work. I did that once before and it worked.
No guarantee though it will work “as it depends if the database was changed much” since the minor update. But you can certainly try that.
But normally to rollback from any new update “before updating” you would first make a manual backup via “Menu / Backup”. You can see when the backup is complete in Show Operations via the dropdown on the right of Refresh. You can also optionally setup automatic periodic backups eg: daily via “Menu / Settings / General / Backup”.
Then update and if you have any issue, you can then uninstalli eM Client and “delete the database” and then download the same Pc or Mac version you had before either from the release history page or Windows Store “depending on where you originally installed it from”, and then reinstall and easily restore via “Menu / File / Restore”.
If you dont have any eM Client backups then “if you have been regularly backing up your user profile” and have a user profile backup “prior to the update”, you can “close eM Client” and then first “rename the current database folder below to eg: eM Client-Current”.
(Hidden database folder Windows)
C:\Users%username%\AppData\Roaming\eM Client
(Hidden database folder Mac)
/Users/User Name/Library/Application Support/eM Client
Then once renamed, “uninstall eM Client” and then download the same Pc or Mac version you had before either from the release history page or Windows Store “depending on where you originally installed it from”, and then reinstall.
Then “restore your backed up user profile eM Client hidden database folder” and “replace the newly created eM Client hidden database folder” and reopen eM Client and it will be the same as before.
Thank you @cyberzork for taking the time to write that comprehensive response. I already did what you describe before submitting my feature request, and it is because that is quite a cumbersome process with several failure points that I am asking that a built-in roll-back option is implemented for quick recovery when a minor update causes issues.
