Duplicate emails in 'Flagged' smart folder

For some reason there’s so many duplicate emails showing in the ‘Flagged’ smart folder - some are listed five or six times. If I go to the folder of a flagged email, there are no duplicates. I’ve tried to repair all the folders with no avail. Please advise?
