Draft disappeared while editing

I was replying to an email and answered a video call during that. When I got out of the call the editing window was gone. The email in question was not in the draft folder. Are there any temporary locations to look for it on the PC?

Mail server: Zimbra (it is not on the server)
OS: Windows 11Pro 23H2 build 22631.5262 (Danish)
eM Client: 10.3.1738 (984d31d)

This has never happened before.

Maybe the focus window changed to the main eM Client window? If you hover the mouse over the eM Client shortcut on the task bar, do you see the draft thumbnail there as in the right of the image? Just click on the thumbnail to view it.

Alternatively if you hold Alt button down while clicking the Tab button, can you see the draft there? keep holding the Alt button down and click Tab until the window is selected, then release Alt.

No, there were no hidden windows and closing it by accident would have spawned a dialog box asking to save.

In my settings it is set to save drafts every 3 minutes, which indeed it normally does. This message, however, was not saved despite it being a very lengthy writ.

I assume you have checked your trash folder, if it was saved, maybe it got accidently deleted eg by Shift/Delete?
Was it accidentally sent?

I don’t trust automatic save - if I have a big message to compose, I File > Save it manually frequently, or compose the message in a text editor the copy/paste.

Yes, I have complete logs of the mailserver transactions and the mail is not in there at all. That would include draft, sent and trash.

Not trusting a program to save automatically when specifically configured to do exactly that, is in fact why I wrote this in the first place. When eM Client has a feature and it has obviously malfunctioned, that incident needs to be reported. Getting the lost data back was secondary and frankly unexpected.

Maybe lodge a support ticket (https://support.emclient.com/).
