I have a large Gmail account (180GB) that I use for work. I’m using eM Client with IMAP and have it configured to “Automatically download messages for offline use and search” with the “Message list only” option set for the time period of “All Time.”
I’d like to know if it’s possible to adjust the settings to download “Full Messages without attachments” for just the last 3 or 6 months, while keeping older emails as “Message list only.”
I attempted to make this change, but I noticed that it started deleting older messages from the client-side.

If you change the Gmail / IMAP sync period to only keep a limited time in your account settings then yes normally “you won’t see any older server messages” untill you either re-enable a Longer sync time or re-enable All Time.
So to still see those older messages if you reduce the sync time, would be two ways.
1). Before reducing the sync period, you can eg: create a folder down in “Local Folders” at the bottom left of eM Client called eg: Old-Mail, and then copy those older account emails into the same folder names under Old Mail with whatever emails you want to be able to view. Then once completed, change / reduce the sync time.
If you don’t have Local folders enabled” up to V9, go to “Menu / Settings (Preferences) / General” and enable Show local folders.
If you don’t have Local folders enabled in V10, go to “Menu / Settings (Preferences) / General / Folders” and enable Local Folders.
Or
2). If you have eM Client V10, you can also go to “Menu / Data files” and create an external hard-disk Data file also called eg: Old Mail, which by default normally goes in your user “Documents / eM Client” folder location, and then also copy whatever emails you want to be able to view anytime under Old Mail. You can then either keep the data file permanently mounted / open, or you can Unmount / close that anytime if you choose.
