double/duplicate entries for sent emails

I keep getting double/duplicate  entries, ie 2 copies of each email sent, showing up in my sent emails folder. Only In my Hotmail accouint but in not another non Hotmail account which I use in the same program. Searching the forum brings up far too many results even if this a  previous reported problem…
Please advise.

Same here with an (Kerio) Exchange Account and RC 7

I’ve now unchecked “Save copy of sent messages in Sent folder” in the Tools>Settings>Mail>Send
options and that may have corrected it so it now only saves one copy in Sent items.
I will monitor the issue. You could try that asw el.

Thanks I have done the same and it seams to work. I also will monitor this and hope I don’t loose sent mails.

The problem I have found is that you can only set this globally for all email accounts and unticking it means I dont get any sent copy saved at all, for my other non hotmail account . So either it is an issue with hotmail or we need a setting to untick save sent emails for each individual account.

You could create am “move to” Rule for each of the other email accounts.

Hi,
making the option to Save copy of sent messages in Sent folder separate for each account is under consideration, until then, the only way around would be to keep the option active in eM Client but disable it on your server.

Olivia

Hello
I’ve the same issue with an account on Exchange-Server 2016.
But the duplicate exists only in eM Client. On the Server there’s only one Version in the Sent-Folder.
The duplicates in eM Client aren’t the same size and the the timestamp is also not the same. The one with the earlier timestamp also remains in the eM Client sent-folder after deleting the mail directly on the Server.

Chris

Hello Chris,
the Sent copy is created locally in eM Client, so that’s why it does not show up on server. The timestamp inconsistency could be caused by a network delay (and since the eM Client copy was created first, it has an earlier time stamp). The size difference is strange though, does it happen to all messages?

Olivia

Hi Olivia
It’s a bit confusing. Yes, it happen to all the Messages of the Exchange-Account. The orther (IMAP and GMail) working fine.
I just checked also the Sent-Folder in Exchange-Server. There the duplicate of one mail is shown as “Draft”. But that happens not every time.
It seems that the draft-version is not deleted after sending the message.

Chris

Hello Chris,
we cannot solve the duplicate of the sent item for Exchange at this time, when we make the settings for keeping a sent copy in Sent folder separate for each account, this will be resolved. Unfortunately I cannot say in which update to expect this change at this time.
As for the Draft not being removed after the original message is sent - does this happen to all Drafts on Exchange? Or perhaps to only those created on the server and not in eM Client or vice versa?

Olivia

Hello Olivia

It only happens with eM Client. Even a very fast written test-mail will cause two items of the mail. The sent one is 5 to 10 seconds “older” then the duplicate. I’m not often saving manually draft-versions of mails. The option to create automatically drafts is set (like it is by default). But it also does not help when disabling this option.

Looking into the sent-folder directly on the Server Shows, that the duplicate appears after 10 Minutes as draft (in the meantime eM Client was running of Course).

It seems the a draft is created and after more or less 10 Minutes it’s also saved on the Server as draft.

I also deleted  and recreated the Exchange-Account. But it did not help.

Chris
