I’ve looked through all the settings and don’t see how to disable this feature. I didn’t want AI compose.
I also think there should be a watermark to distinguish human created and AI created emails.

It’s not possible to hide the AI options at the moment, but please be assured that it’s only ever used if you as a user actively click on it, otherwise not whatsoever. The option to hide it is being considered for future updates, so we appreciate your thoughts on the subject!
Honestly, this is crazy! Since when is a feature added, without user consent, with no ability to disable? Was this somehow part of your deal with OpenAI, to force this upon your users?
I’m ready to look for a new email client.
Thank you for your feedback, while we of course understand that noone wants to be “forced” into using any specific service or feature, the choice is still absolutely yours and we are not forcing anyone. We have just added more features from the desktop version into the mobile app.
Same as in the desktop app, eM Client never sends text or queries to the server without explicit user action via using the Reply with AI or AI buttons. It will NEVER collect and send ANY content of your messages anywhere on its own.
So if you remove the AI button in compose and don’t click the submenu of Reply you will never even accidentally click it, since it’s always a multiple-click action.
As mentioned above, we do plan to add an easier option to hide these options in future updates based on the feedback we received since the feature was introduced last week.
If you want to uninstall the mobile version until then, you can absolutely reinstall and re-import your account later once this option is added in one of the future updates.
Our only “deal” with OpenAI is the purchase of their AI services, which we pay for, with the agreement that data from our users will not be used for any further LLM learning. So we are the ones paying to OpenAI to make the AI text-generating and editing features available to our users, not the other way around.
Thanks for explaining. Maybe there could be a watermark or other indication regarding replies which are AI generated? I feel like this tool devalues the actual thinking and typing that I do.
*not ai generated
You can add the idea to our Sleekplan of course (https://emclient.sleekplan.app/) but you could just add a disclaimer to your default signature or template about your emails never being generated that would be automatically included in your messages, so your recipients would know.
In the mobile app you can create signatures and templates in Settings > Mail and then Signatures or Templates, and then assign them as default in the specific account’s settings, so you can be sure to have them added to each email.
Unfortunately for emails, there isn’t a specific “watermark” that could be used in emails that would be recognized globally right now, but if such new standard appears, then we could definitely consider it.
Disable AI compose/reply on Android.
The latest iOS Testflight Beta V10.3.4032 “now has the option to disable the AI compose / reply” etc in Settings / Mail / Artificial Intelligence" at the bottom, so I suspect the Android Beta version also won’t be far away to test if you are using eM Client Droid Beta.
Currently not yet available in V10.3.3933 Droid.
