Difficulty setting up account Virgin Media

Setting up eM Client on a new PC: 2 accounts exactly as per the old PC.
gmail address is set up fine.
Virgin Media email won’t set up: the red exclamation mark appears
The password I’m using is the same one that works successfully to get in to Virgin’s webmail.
I read an older post suggesting Virgin may need me to set up an App-specific password in eM Client: I’ve tried varying it with no success.
It all worked fine for years on the old PC!
Any suggestions please?

Yes you need a generated app password for eM Client on your new computer from your Virgin Media mail account settings as per @moorehypno post below. You carn’t normally use a different / old computer app password as they are unique to each device.

If a new generated app password still doesn’t work then you may have the incorrect POP or IMAP mail settings in your eM Client acct setup.

So if a new app password doesn’t work update your mail settings so we can check to see if there is in any obvious settings wrong.

Also if you can still access your old pc check what mail settings it had.

Thanks for that. I generated the password and pasted it in but that didn’t solve it.
The IMAP port setting had been automatically set as per my old PC but the SMTP setting was different, so I changed it to the old number: still no luck.
However, I then followed the advice to restore the eMClient backup (which I’d made from the old machine before I switched it off yesterday) and… …it’s all fixed.
