Difficulty connecting eM Client to Hotmail

Hi,

Since a couple of months ago, eM Client reports “unknow username or bad password” when attempting to connect to my hotmail account. This used to happen occasionally and not very frequently, and I would sort it out by entering the password. At the moment, it happens with annoying frequency and entering the password usually does not work.

I did find (a couple of weeks ago) that logging into my hotmail account through outllook.com would “reactivate” the login and resolve the issue temporarily, but not even that works any more.

Before anyone feels the need to ask, the password has not changed. What has changed is eM Client’s ability to connect to my account.

I had another hotmail account which I stopped using because eM Client decided to stop connecting to it a few years ago, so this new issue is making me really annoyed with eM Client. Please help!

Unfortunately you can no longer use username/passwords for login to Microsoft hosted accounts.

Microsoft recently sent you an email about that, and we also announced it some years ago when Microsoft first started the change.
