Every hour or two there appears a red triangle next to name of our emial boxes. I check ‘Account Settings’ click the diagnostics tab and the POP3 and SMTP show as unknown. Clicking on diagnose runs the diagnostic but on or the other then displays ‘Fix’ alongside.
I click ‘Fix’ whci starts a test on ports etc and then 'Correct settings found. Click 'save ’ to keep settings.
I then repeat the process on the other email address and the same thing happens.
The ‘send/receive’ works perfectly for a few emails and then the red triangle appears.
I have to repeat the whole exercise but notice that the server settings are the same as when I last clicked ‘Save and Close’. Should I create logs for the future fixes. It is switched off at the moment
How do I stop this please. I prefer EM to any other mail client.

Has this just recently started?
Who is your internet & mail provider?
What version of eMC?

Personally I would not recommend turning off antivirus.
You can disable email scanning as a trial.
However, if you are running an up to date version of either Windows 10 or 11
Windows Defender antivirus is perfectly adequate (in this case you do not need Norton)
Do you use VPN? Sometimes with some versions this can interfere with you connection (I use Surfshark and have never had an issue)

I never had any trouble with Bullguard and then they were taken over by Norton which I have never liked. I have tried switching off the VPN with some effect but then the problem returned so I switched it back on again. I hav etried with IK as the region and then France but nothing helps.
Yes, I keep my Windows 10 bang up to date so may take up yours and other peoples suggestion to try using Windows Defender.
Thank you for taking the time to reply

Obviously I do not know your connection speed/bandwidth mine with/without VPN more or less the same anywhere in Europe is slightly slower with VPN Orange Grupo MásMóvil Madrid, and with MásMóvil Sevilla direct hardly difference:
It might be worth trying:
SPEEDTEST
to see if there is a difference for you.
If it was me, I would dump Norton, I have Defender & Malwarebytes Premium both locally installed and MWES for SPAM on my mail server.
I do not have any eMC issues.

Yes, I use Speedtest regularly and ma finding that the more people in our area who take up fibre the faster my connection gets Here it is a moment ago:
I’ll certainly have a look at the software you recommend and give it a go.
We were so sorry to see Bullguard go.
Thanks again
Thank you again skybat whereever you are.
Norton is off and Windows Defender jumped in straight away. I am trying out Malwarebytes before I buy.
Fingers crossed for trouble free EMClient
