Suddenly, 2 years’ worth of deleted emails have re-appeared. I can get rid of them manually but any idea why this has happened?
That could happen if eg: the server mailbox was restored recently due to maybe a server failure and possibly an old mailbox backup was then restored. So suggest to first contact your mail server technical support to ask if that might have happened and tell them your deleted mail just reappeared.
If your server technical support say your mailbox was not restored and they had no issues their end, then that could possibly be a eg: local mail database issue, where “if those deleted emails are not showing on the server end” via webmail and you have been making regular eM Client backups, you could restore a recent backup when you know those emails were already deleted via “Menu / File / Restore” to avoid redeleting them again.
Any new emails since the restore point will then update when eM Client reconnects online.
Note: If you do try restoring a recent backup, make a manual backup first via “Menu / Backup” incase you need to restore back to your current database for any reason. You can see when the manual backup is complete in Show Operations via the dropdown on the right of Refresh.
Thank you for this. Sadly, did not work! will keep looking!! I’d hope it might solve the other problem that’s appeared!
