Hello,
The title of this thread describes my problem : when i delete a mail with em client in my imap gmail account, the mail goes to the archive folder and not to the trash folder.
Maybe there is an option to modify that but i haven’t found it yet.

Maybe yes but i’d like to understand why 
Try this;
Under ‘Tools’ select ‘Accounts’ - Select ‘Gmail’
On right side select IMAP tab and look for the section ‘Special Folders’
Scroll down to ‘Trash’ and it should show “[Gmail]/Bin”
