When I delete my emails on my android (samsung) phone it also it’s deletes the email on my PC. how do I set it up not to delete the email on my PC?
If you have an IMAP, Exchange, Office 365 or iCloud (non POP) account, then “all your mail resides on the mail server end” and not Local, so if you delete an email on any device, then that will also automatically delete it on the mail server end which then inturn “also deletes it on all your other devices when they check & sync mail” as they are all reading the same remote mailbox.
I have a POP3 server
For POP accounts when you download mail on one device to your Inbox “it then usually clears the mail box on the server” so then your other device mail clients then don’t get the email.
So to make all the same mail available for all devices, you need to set the mail client to “leave a copy on the server for X days”. You can set up to a month.
Note: Make sure you have enough mailbox space “on your server” to accommodate the amount of days you want to store the mail, as POP server mailboxes are usually not very large by default.
(eM Client for mobile Droid app)
Go to “Menu / Settings”. Open your POP account. Then scroll down to “Services” and open “POP3”.
Then scroll down to Server Settings and enable "Leave a copy of messages on server and press on “Remove from server after”.
Then set how long you want to leave the mail on the server .
(eM Client for desktop)
Go to “Menu / Accounts”. Then click on your POP account on the left.
Then click the “POP tab” at the top. Next scroll down to Server Settings.
Then enable “Leave a copy of messages on server” and enable “Remove from server after X days” and set how long you want to leave the mail on the server.
I went thru my phone under email account advanced set up and discovered a setting that would allow the email to remain on the server until I deleted it thru my desktop. thanks for helping and guiding me in the right direction.
