No, that is not the way Google works. Sorry. If you delete a message, it will go to Trash.
Of course you could ask Google if they can change the way they delete messages. Even though their server model is a little different, it is standard practice with all email providers that deleted messages go to Trash. I doubt it is something that they will change.
You have both the Delete and Archive buttons on the toolbar, just choose the one appropriate to where you want the message to end up.
