Ich möchte eM Client als Standardprogramm für E-Mail festlegen. Bei dem Menüpunkt ‘Als Standard setzen’ springt das Programm nur zur Startseite der Windows-Einstellungen. Was muss ich alles ändern?
I would like to set eM Client as the default program for e-mail. With the menu item ‘Set as default’, the program only jumps to the start page of the Windows settings. What do I have to change?

For the latest Windows 11, go to your Windows Settings > Apps > Default Apps. Select eM Client and choose all the options except for the last two webcal entries:

Gary, you have brushed off this problem in the past, as if it were a matter that a child could solve on his own. I have been using eM Client for many years now, always using the latest version, and I have not been able to solve one problem in all that time. And I just got done trying it again, but again–no luck.
It seems absolutely impossible to set eM Client as the default mail program!
I have read several posts over the years, and nothing has helped. Today, for the very first time, I tried changing my default language from German to English, but alas, to no avail. This is not a Windows thing or any other thing: It is an eM-Client thing!

Ich nutze den eM Client nun schon unter Windows 8, Windows 10 und Windows 11.
Lediglich unter Windows 8 musste ich den eM Client “händisch” als Standard einstellen ansonsten hat es immer ohne Probleme automatisch funktioniert.
Wäre es ein eM Client Problem müsste es bei vielen anderen ebenfalls auftauchen, da dies aber nicht der Fall ist liegt es wohl an deiner speziellen PC/ Software Konfiguration.
Ich kann bestätigen, dass die Einstellung als als Standardprogramm kein (alleiniger) Windows-Fehler sein kann. Bei meinem Haupt-PC funktioniert es nicht, bei dem PC meiner Frau funktioniert es. eM Client bietet keine Lösung!
Ich habe insgesamt 3 PCs mit Windows 11 Pro (deutsch). Auf allen ist eM Client drauf und auf keinem kann ich eM Client zu Standard-Email-Programm machen. Ich bin nur einer unter vielen mit diesem Problem.

It looks like the company is no longer interested in helping users find the cause of and the solution to this issue.
Für mich ist es klar, das eM Client die Daten aus der Registerdatei nicht richtig lesen kann. Viellleicht liest das Progamm die Werte aus von irgendwo anders. Eventuell ein Windows 10 vs Windows 11 Unterschied?
Wenn dem so ist, hätte eM Client schon längst einen Patch oder Ähnliches anbieten können. Besser wäre natürlich, das im Programm zu fixen. Das Problem existiert seit Jahren und es hat zwischendruch schon etliche Updates gegeben. Es hat sich diesbezüglich nichts geändert.
Hi, yes you must set this in windows settings, but there is a bug… You must set this also in the em client - settings - general and there is a button “set as default” just click it and its done.
I would think this is the first thing anybody would try. I have tried it often, with and without admin privileges.
